How to Find the Best Vasectomy Clinic

AUTHOR: Bill Pope

Vasectomy Clinic
A visit to the vasectomy clinic should help you with gathering data and making an informed decision before you go through with your surgery. A clinic for vasectomies is usually where the surgical procedure will take place and is performed by a urologist or general practitioner there. Find a urology clinic in your area that is reputable and trustworthy. They should be expected to keep information regarding your consultation as confidential, whether or not you actually go through with it.

You can even prepare a list of questions that you will ask your doctor at the vasectomy clinic. When you come in for an initial consultation at the clinic, this will be the best time to discuss why you are thinking of getting a vasectomy. You can also ask about the accompanying charges and arrange for health insurance to cover the costs of the vasectomy.

Although doubts have been raised about whether a vasectomy clinic can assist you in providing a careful and objective assessment of your situation, you can visit more than one place to get a range of opinions. It may cast some distrust on your part if a doctor keeps convincing you to push through with the vasectomy so it always helps to conduct your own research beforehand.

Once you agree to the vasectomy, the vasectomy clinic will provide you with a list of instructions that you should follow before the operation. For instance, you will be asked to avoid taking aspirin and other anti-inflammatory medicine since this may contribute to the bleeding you will experience after the vasectomy. The clinic will also ask you to bring clean underwear on the day of the operation as well as an athletic supporter. You will also be asked to shave the hair on the front part of your scrotum to facilitate the operation.

You will also be asked to sign a consent form at the vasectomy clinic which basically outlines all the risks that undergoing this type of surgery entails. It also states that you are well aware of the fact that sterilization is not guaranteed after a vasectomy.

At the vasectomy clinic, you will be admitted for a day care operation where it can be done in about thirty minutes. You will need to go to the clinic earlier than the actual operation to allot some time for the application of the local anesthetic and to allow this to set in. After the operation, you will be asked to stay at the clinic for a short time to recover and to arrange a ride home since you will not be allowed to drive. The clinic will also give you a list of post-operation instructions which should be strictly followed to ensure that no complications develop from the vasectomy.
