A vasectomy is surgical procedure wherein the vas deferens are removed, prohibiting the 'coming out' of the sperm during ejaculation. It is considered as a form of permanent birth control. However, thanks to the wonders of modern science, this seemingly 'permanent' procedure can be reversed if and when you decide that you do want to have (more) kids after all.
A vasectomy is not something to be taken lightly. You need to consider its average costs, choosing a reputable vasectomy doctor, and selecting a trustworthy vasectomy clinic. You also need to give serious thought on whether you really do not want to have children again because apart from requiring you to go under the knife again, a vasectomy reversal procedure can be quite costly. Studies show that about 10% of male vasectomy patients return to have the procedure reversed. Common causes are remarriage, losing a child or seeing a drastic improvement in financial circumstances (thereby eliminating financial worries of having a child).
Still, no one can really predict how one feels or what his personal circumstances will be a few years down the road so if you are determined to have a vasectomy now, the best thing you can do is to be well-informed. As with all medical procedures, a vasectomy or reverse vasectomy carries with it associated risks and complications; so the more you know, the more capable you will be of making the right decisions and avoiding these complications.
